Leather Gloves protect and comfort hands against the cold of a winter’s night or the heat at the peak of the summer solstice. Leather gloves may provide some protection and damage by friction from a close quarter battle, abrasion or scrapes or in turn to provide a thin guard for what a bare hand should not touch when at a LARP. The extension of the glove covering the upper arm is known as a gauntlet, it protects the wearer from glancing blows from a weapon. A swordsman would wear gloves in battle to maintain his grip when the blood from is enemy’s drips down his blade onto his hands, a man of distinction would wear gloves as a show of wealth and prosperity. Gloves allow the rogue warrior to crawl through bushes and through swamp, never worrying what he just placed his hands in while feeling safe and comfortable. |
